Concentrator
Concentrator
The Eppendorf Concentrator plus is designed for concentration, drying, and purification of biomolecules. With three concentrator modes as well as centrifuge and dessicator functions, the Concentrator plus provides valuable versatility for molecular and cell biology labs. There are four different heating levels for optimized drying times for different samples. Three application modes—for aqueous, alcohol, or high-vapor-pressure solvents—provide fast evaporation, reducing processing time by up to 20 percent. The dessicator function can be used for fast evaporation of filters and the 1,400 rpm centrifugation function is suitable for spinning down droplets after resuspension. Eppendorf supplies 14 different compatible rotors, ranging from 0.2-ml polymerase chain reaction tubes to 25-ml tubes.

Ion Trap GC/MS Series
The ITQ Series of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) ion trap instruments feature external ionization. Developed for a wide range of applications, from routine GC/MS to research-grade ion trap MS, these new systems address the analytical needs of the environment, food safety, pharmaceutical quality control, forensics, and toxicology industries as well as academic laboratories. The ITQ 700 is designed for routine full-scan quantitation and general teaching applications. It combines full-scan ion-trap sensitivity with a small footprint. The ITQ 900 incorporates best-in-class full-scan sensitivity of ion trap MS with the increased flexibility of the Trace GC Ultra gas chromatograph. The ITQ 1100 offers a broad selection of innovative features for laboratories seeking a powerful GC/MS platform and optimal flexibility. For the first time, the patented Pulsed Q Dissociation Mode (PDQ) is available on a GC ion-trap system. PDQ increases the number of product ions formed during collision-induced disassociation, yielding richer information for qualitative MSn experiments. The system provides a mass range up to 1,100 amu, considerably increasing the number of compounds that can be identified.

Rapid Microbial Detection
The microCompass TYMC (which stands for total yeast and mold count) Detection Kit is for the detection of yeast and mold RNA by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. The only genetic-based test on the market to quantify yeast and mold, the kit can produce results in as little as four hours, a considerable improvement over standard methods, which can take three to 14 days. The system can operate at a high throughput level by batching up to 96 samples at a time.

Refrigerated Incubated Shaker
The SI-600R combines a benchtop, refrigerated incubator with a dual-action orbital and reciprocating shaker for use in a variety of molecular biology, general incubation, and cell culture applications. Selectable between orbital and reciprocating action, the speed range is from 10 to 300 rpm. It can be programmed from a run time from 10 seconds to 1,000 hours with forward-backward-pause cycles. The platform is 16.1-inches by 16.1-inches and can be equipped with a wide range of clamps, racks, and platforms. The temperature range is 15°C to 60°C. Additional features include microprocessor control, automatic tuning and calibration, and programmability of up to nine profile steps. Over-temperature protection, door-opening alarm, and digital LED display are all standard.

Nucleic Acids from FFPE Tissues
The analysis of nucleic acids extracted from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues is challenging because of the extensive cross-linking, chemical modification, and degradation that takes place. The QuickExtract FFPE DNA and RNA Extraction Kits provide a fast and simple method to produce DNA ready for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and RNA ready for reverse transcription PCR from FFPE tissues. The procedure can be completed in an hour for DNA and 30 minutes for RNA without the use of chemical solvents, spin columns, and tube transfers.
